24 Hour Fitness - Starting to exercise

I realise it's all very well to say you have to increase your metabolism and burn fat...
But what if you haven't exercised for a while ?
Or you have sore knees ?
Or sore ankles ?
I know it's never easy to start exercising, there is never enough time, I'll do it tomorrow ect...
But what if you just walked up and down your road for 20 mins ? That's pretty easy right ?
20 mins of walking is a great start as this will get your heart rate up a bit for a start.
Gradually you will be able to walk more, perhaps even up hills or faster.
Some more of my top tips for exercising when you just can't are;
1. Go to garage sales and haggle for a cheap exercycle or gravity rider.
I got a gravity walker for $2 !! As I have pretty bad arthritis in my knees, this enables me to get my heart rate up without putting impact on my joints !
2. Swim !
I know this one's a touchy subject for some. There's the swimsuit and all the eyes... But what about getting up early before people get to the pool ? Or swimming along the river or bay ?
Just be careful... !
This puts no pressure on your joints but gives you an excellent cardio workout.
3. Walk.
Slowly at first is fine. Get a pedometer and make sure you walk more everyday.
It's surprising how one little pedometer can force you to walk more and more !
You can park the car further from the shops, walk the neighbours dog (or your own !!) Or just briskly walk to the end of the road and back !
Good Luck :)
Now to take my own advice......
